Introduction


Overview     The Student Affairs Division was established in 1975 subsequent to the enactment and coming into force of the Universities and University Colleges Act 1971 (Act 30). 

This Division is headed by a Deputy Vice-Chancellor, assisted by several senior officers who are section heads and administrative officers. This Division enforces the provisions in the University of Malaya (Student Bodies) Statute 1979 and the University of Malaya (Discipline of Students) Rules 1999, apart from several other provisions in the Universities and University Colleges Act 1971. 

All University of Malaya alumni activities have come under the auspices and management of the  Student Affairs Division with effect from June 17, 2005 and the Division is now known as the Student Affairs Division.
University & University Colleges Act 1971 This Act, apart from emphasizing on the establishment, maintenance and administration of the university also provides for the setting up of the Student Representative Council and Student Bodies under the University of Malaya Constitution.
University of Malaya (Student Bodies) Statute 1979
This Statute empowers the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs) to manage and administer the activities of various Student Bodies in campus. The Statute also provides guidelines for the prime movers of the student movements to manage their Student Bodies.
University of Malaya (Discipline of Students) Rules 1999 These rules are made under the University and University Colleges Act 1971 to provide for disciplinary offences imposition of punishments, as well as for disciplinary proceedings and for appeals.
